New Zealand singer Lorde says she is no longer interested in commercial success with the release of her third studio album "Solar Power".
Released on August 20, the album marks Lorde's return after four years since Melodrama. Unlike previous albums, she does not sell traditional CDs, but releases them as environmentally friendly "music boxes", including handwritten notes, exclusive photos, and songs downloaded online. This form does not count sales on the Billboard 200.
Co-producer of the album with Lorde is Jack Antonoff, who has performed Melodrama and many albums of Taylor Swift (1989, Folklore), Lana Del Rey (Chemtrails Over the Country Club).
Over the past time, Lorde has been tight-lipped, limited her use of social networks and disappeared while making an album to be with family and friends. In the Wall Street Journal, the star said she would rather be in a room with 5,000 people who are really passionate about her music "than 18,000 people who just listen and like through the radio".
Born in 1996, Lorde's real name is Ella Yelich-O'Connor, once shocked the music world in 2013 with the single Royals. The Grammy-awarded song "Song of the Year", made Lorde the youngest singer to top the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart since Tiffany in 1988.
